Dr. Cesalie Stepney (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their caregivers. She focuses on tailoring evidence and skills-based interventions to best fit the needs of her patients. Dr. Stepney primarily uses a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, and has received advanced training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Supportive Therapy for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), Behavioral Activation (BA), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Although not a focus of her current practice, she also received specialized training in Trauma-Focused CBT and she strives to provide trauma-informed care for all patients. Dr. Stepney is especially committed to working with BIPOC populations and being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

Dr. Stepney offers individual therapy for children and teens presenting with:

  • Anxiety and phobias

  • OCD and related disorders

  • Mood and depressive symptoms

  • Questions around gender identity development and gender transition

Dr. Stepney also provides parent coaching and training to caregivers of anxious youth using the SPACE treatment program.

  • Ed.M. in Risk and Prevention, Harvard Graduate School of Education (2009)

  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (2016)

  • APA-accredited internship in Clinical and Community Psychology at the Yale of School of Medicine (2015-2016)

  • Postdoctoral fellowship in Leadership Education in Adolescent Health at the University of Washington with clinical placement at Seattle Children’s (2016-2018)

Dr. Stepney has been a licensed psychologist in Washington since 2018. After becoming a licensed psychologist, she worked as an attending psychologist at Seattle Children’s in the departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine. Prior to joining CAPSS, Dr. Stepney was a clinical director and supervising psychologist at Rogers Behavioral Health.

Dr. Stepney is not contracted with any insurance companies, but can provide you with an itemized invoice for third-party reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider for details about out-of-network benefits.
