We provide IQ testing, or cognitive testing, for admissions for several local private schools that require it, including The Evergreen School, University Child Development School (UCDS), Seattle Country Day School (SCDS), and Open Window School. Additionally, some families who are not necessarily applying to private schools but who would like to know more about their child’s cognitive profile for school planning or informational purposes, are welcome to schedule these test sessions.

Testing typically takes about 1-1.5 hours, and includes engaging activities in a one-on-one setting that kids generally enjoy. A written report and discussion of results are provided following the session.

Unlike standardized testing in school, IQ tests are designed to measure children’s problem solving and reasoning abilities on novel tasks. Any prior exposure to the testing materials will invalidate the results. Please do not attempt to “prep” your child for IQ testing.

It is helpful to try and make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and breakfast beforehand. Your child is also welcome to bring along some snacks and water bottle for breaks, as well as a comfort items such as a favorite stuffed animal or object from home that they would like to show their examiner.

If you are interested in IQ testing for your child, please schedule directly with one of our psychologists using the links above, or complete our New Client Inquiry Form.
