Details

Dr. Bromberg offers tailored small-group programs aimed at teaching tweens research-grounded, engaging ways to recognize and understand stress, to handle common challenges and stressors, and to develop a new set of coping skills.  Elements of mindfulness-based stress reduction skills are drawn from the research-supported program, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens- MBSR-T.

Each 75-minute meeting will have a weekly topic and engaging activities (e.g., crafts, music, and movement). Tweens will learn from and support one another, while connecting over their shared experiences and having some fun!

Possible topics include:

  • Stress is a problem, Coping is a solution

  • Stress can hurt or help (stress and the body)

  • Things that stress us out (school, family, friends, self-image, etc.)

    • Who am I?  (knowing and loving yourself)

    • BFF or NRF? (understanding healthy vs. difficult friendships)

    • Why do parents have to be so annoying? (managing changes in family dynamics during the tween years)

    • School is a lot! (strategies for managing school stress)

    • How to make (and keep) great friends

    • How to juggle all the things!

  • Planting the S.E.E.D.S. of health (Sleep, Exercise, Eating, Drinking water, Socializing)

  • Riding the waves (accepting stress and difficult emotions)

  • “More of the good stuff, please” (the benefits of pleasant activities, noticing positive experiences)

  • I am not my thoughts (noticing thoughts, being and working with thoughts)

  • I can cope (positive coping strategies, healthy coping)

  • Be here now (present awareness)

  • Thanks a lot (the benefits of gratitude)

Enrollment and Fees

TTGG will run throughout the 2025-2026 school year, generally aligned with the Seattle Public School calendar.

$150/group meting. Because a spot is held for your child in group, absences are billed at a rate of $100, with one absence fee waved.

Fees will be billed at the end of each month. A receipt (“superbill”) with information required for insurance submission can be provided, though reimbursement depends on your individual policy/plan.

Prior to acceptance into the group program, each family is required to complete a brief, complementary screening. If group is not deemed to be a good match, Dr. Bromberg will provide referrals.

*TTGG welcomes female identifying or aligned youth, including cisgender girls, nonbinary, gender expansive and transgender youth.  Tweens may benefit from learning and sharing with similar-gender peers with similar experiences and socialization histories.
